Hello experts,

I was trying to access my Gmail account using Outlook 2013. Every time I try to gain access I get the error message below. I just wanted to see how one can access Gmail from Outlook and when I got the error I tried putting my Gmail credential.

Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: Web login required:

Hello William!

You might want to try following the link provided in the error. Then, do as it says there, check if your password is correct. If it doesn't work, try signing in from the web version of Gmail.

Follow the link they provide to clear the CAPTCHA. Last, but not least, try changing your password.

Don't forget to restart the mail client and see if it works.

Good luck!

Hello Mr.Laurenc,

The basic step that generally solves such problems is logging into Gmail from https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false&continue=https://mail.google.com/mail/&ss=1&scc=1&ltmpl=default&ltmplcache=2&emr=1&osid=1#. But, if that didn’t work then you should set your Outlook client to not to check for new mails too often – like not every ten minutes or so.

And then you need to use Google account’s unlock captcha option. For this just click on the following link:

https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?passive=1209600&continue=https%3A%2F%2Faccounts.google.com%2FDisplayUnlockCaptcha&followup=https%3A%2F%2Faccounts.google.com%2FDisplayUnlockCaptcha

Everything should be a breeze after this.
