Hello!
I am using Mozilla Firefox version 4.0. Whenever I type the URL of any web site, it displays an error stating that the page cannot be displayed. I tried to reach the web site through the DOS, but the browser was unable to open it. What procedure do I follow to enable my browser?
The page cannot be displayed
Hi Jhon Clarks!
There are reasons why browser will not display pages even though it has reply when you do ping test in DOS command. When you open URL, an error message should come up either "Server not Found" or "Proxy server issue". An error message will identify the cause why Firefox browser gets this error message. Apparently, in your post, you did not include any error message shown.
Here are the possible solutions to this issue: Check browser settings if Use a Proxy Sever is checked. Click Tools, Options, Advanced tab, Network, Settings. Put a tick on Use a Proxy Server Settings. This is also caused by a Firewall. Disable this for a while.
The steps above should take care of the issue.

The page cannot be displayed
Hello!
Welcome to Techyv support team. Nice to see your question. Your question is incomplete, I think. You did not mention if there is any proxy setting or not. Normally, it cannot happen. As per your post that from DOS, you can browse but with Windows you cannot. Please check below setting for Mozilla Proxy.
-
Click Tools. Then click Options. Then click Advanced Tab.
-
Under the Advanced Tab, click Network. Then under the Network, click settings.
-
Please follow the picture below .
Hope your problem will be solved.
