Partition Size Needed for Windows 8

If you want to partition your hard disk drive for windows 8 consumer preview here are the basics steps in order for you to install the OS properly please be guided:

1. You must have at list 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit).
2. 1 GHz or faster processor. 
3. 1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit).
4. DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver.
5. 1024 x 768 minimum screen resolution.

But there are beautiful features in windows 8 that can be used if we put this requirement into consideration. To make it possible for you to use the Snap feature, you will need a PC with a 1366×768 resolution or higher and If you like to use touch, you’ll need a multi touch-capable laptop, tablet, or display. You have to apply this in order for to make things possible.

You don’t have to worry about setting up the partition of your hard drive if you are planning on installing the latest Windows 8 operating system. If you have plenty of space in your hard drive then there would be no problem. Since the minimum and maximum required space for the installation of Windows 8 is running from 16 up to 20 GB, you just have to make sure that the free space of your hard drive is a lot bigger than this required space.

Preparing the hard drive’s partition for the installation of Windows 8 is done automatically during the installation. I’m not sure if there is a difference in the installation process of Windows XP and Windows 8, or in Windows 7 and Windows 8. All have the same procedure which starts the time you boot the computer using the operating system’s setup CD. You will be guided with instructions while doing the installation.

Thank you for your great explanation and very educative comments. I am really interested in installing the latest version of Windows 8 operating system, but my knowledge on how to install it is very limited. After reading your description I felt more assured, and I now know that if I have enough space in my hard drive I can easily install Windows 8. I also learnt that disk preparation and partitioning during the installation of Windows 8 will be done mechanically.
