Hello,
I am attempting to launch PCmover and I get this error reporting an error preventing the software from working and quit the program. The error message does not give me any info regarding what caused the error only a hope that windows would find a solution and then notify when a fix is available. I have used PCMover a couple of times after its installation and never faced any issues. Now whenever I try to launch PCMover, I end up with this error. I tried uninstalling and installing PCMover back again. But this did not resolve the issue. I have not made any major changes to my system recently, only those regular updates that my system performs usually. Still I tried a system restore and was informed, this was unsuccessful. How could I fix this problem? Please help. Thanks a lot for your help.

PC mover has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
PCmover encounters an error on startup
This error message is found when Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is enabled and is preventing the Laplink application from launching. You can either disable DEP or configure it to allow the Laplink Application to work properly. After disabling DEP ensure that you reboot your system and then re-launch the application. Also verify from the task manager whether any other process is eating up too much memory or multiple instances of the same application are in use.

If you are using PCmover and you get this error, it is likely you are using a trial. Check if you are using a trial and verify that the trial period is not expired. If the trial period is expired, I don’t think you can still use it unless you purchase it or buy a license.
If you are using Windows 7, you can use the built-in Windows Easy Transfer tool. This utility is a specialized file transfer application developed by Microsoft that allows users to transfer settings and personal files from a computer with an older operating system into a computer with a newer operating system.
This utility was introduced in Microsoft Windows Vista and was included in Window 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1. This utility substitutes the “Files and Settings Transfer Wizard” utility in Microsoft Windows XP and provides limited migration services for Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows 2000 Service Pack 4. The Windows Easy Transfer utility is designed to transfer most settings and files only.
It doesn’t transfer applications. It was discontinued in Microsoft Windows 10 and got replaced by PCmover Express as an alternative wherein Microsoft partnered with Laplink to provide a free version of this application for a limited time only. Users can then upgrade to the paid version, PCmover Professional, which has the ability to transfer applications.
