Please suggest how to shrink a movie on Mac keeping reasonable quality

I have a 2 GB home video shot on my Camcoder. I own a MAC. Please suggest how to shrink a movie on Mac and still keeping a reasonable quality. I would like to try freeware, if any available. Being a newbie into MAC doesn't help at all. I would appreciate any help from experienced MAC users.

Hi,

Try to see this one http://handbrake.fr. It is Multi-threaded Video Trancoder if you would like to Transcode or Encode Video or movies i.e. Netflix on Mac then chooses screenflow.mov.

Hello Ana J Ballinger,

If you want to shrink a video and keeping it in a reasonable quality, try VLC Media Player. It is a Media Player and a converter at the same time.

You can find it here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

This is the logo.

This can convert any video to a wide variety of formats as long as VLC can play it. Try to convert your video to an MP4 file so that it can be played back by most devices.
