Hi there,

I am currently running Photoshop on my Mac, and I have a scanner with a separate scanning software. I want to integrate both my image editing and scanning activities on my copy of Photoshop.

I have heard from people that this can be done through a plugin via Mac. Can any of you techies guide me on how to install this plugin via Mac?

Thank you.

Dear Joseph,

You will need the plug-in called TWAIN. TWAIN is used to import from imaging devices such as cameras and scanners.

But before you are able to use it correctly you need your scanner driver installed in the system.

So first make sure that you have the latest updated scanner driver installed.

To install TWAIN plug-in follow the next steps:

  • For Adobe Photoshop CS6:
Adobe Photoshop CS6

1. Download the plug-in FROM HERE (Note; It's included in the optional plug-ins for Photoshop CS6).

2. Make sure that Photoshop is closed.

3. Mount the .dmg file.

4. Copy the TWAIN.plugin file to the Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Plug-ins folder.

5. Open Photoshop. Click File > Import > [scanner name].

NOTE: Into Mac OS Photoshop CS6 only runs in 64-bit mode so your scanner has to support scanning in 64-bit mode. If not you can use Apple’s ImageKit technology, which is built into Photoshop CS6 and doesn't need plug-in installation.

  • For Adobe Photoshop CS5:
Photoshop CS5

1. Download the plug-in FROM HERE

2. Make sure that Photoshop is closed.

3. Mount the .dmg file.

4. Copy the TWAIN.plugin file to the ApplicationsAdobe Photoshop CS5Plug-insImport-Export folder.

5. Open Photoshop. Click File > Import > [scanner name].

NOTE:

1. There is update for Photoshop CS5 for Mac you can download FROM HERE. This update fixes two problems;

a. You can scan multiple documents at once.

b. Fixes crash on the second scanning job.

2. In Mac OS 10.6.x, The plug-in supports 64-bit so your scanner has to support scanning in 64-bit mode. If not, you must run Photoshop in 32-bit mode.

  • For Adobe Photoshop CS4:
Adobe Photoshop Cs4

1. Make sure that Photoshop is closed.

2. Open your installation disc, Open: /<language>/Goodies/Optional plug-ins/Import-Export folder.

4. Copy the TWAIN.plugin file to the ApplicationsAdobe Photoshop CS4Plug-insImport-Export folder.

5. Open Photoshop. Click File > Import > [scanner name].
