Is pro tools 8 HD worth buying for personal use?

Hello,

I only really do private sound and video editing. I was wondering if pro tools 8 HD would be worth purchasing for this purpose? Or even one of the newer versions. If it's not what free programs would you recommend?

If you want a good sound and video editing software, I would like to introduce to you the Adobe Premier Pro program and the Adobe After Effects program, they are the most powerful and yet trending tools that is available in the market right now that is capable of handling video editing and audio editing.
