Hello everybody,
I am using the latest version of Ubuntu Amarok as a media player, basically for mp3 audio files, well I’ve been trying to get the missing information for some mp3 files (Singer, title, Album….) and have decided to use Musicbrainz for that but instead of having the information, I get this error message:
Error:
Tunepimp (musicBrainz tagging library) returned the following error: "fingerprinting of .mp3 files is not supported."
I have tried everything and couldn’t fix it so I hope I will find an answer here.
Problem with Amarok and MusicBrainz
The only solution for that is to install libtunepimp5-mp3. There are two ways to install software in ubuntu. But first close the Amarok software.
1. You can install the software by running this command in the terminal: sudo apt-get install libtunepimp5-mp3.
2. You can also go to Ubuntu Software Center and type libtunepimp5-mp3 on the search box. Select MP3 Plugin for MusicBrainz tagging library and click Install button.

Problem with Amarok and MusicBrainz
Hello Adam,
I've read your problem very well. "Fingerprinting of .mp3 files is not supported". This is a new kind of bug and it is causing problems with even latest version of Amarok's updates. Even restarting Amarok won't help because the error message will appear again and again. Reason for this problem is that the library called "libtunepimp5–mp3" is not installed automatically as .mp3 supportive or is missing. That is why it causes problems to users of MusicBrainz.
Well, What you have to do is pretty easy and straight forward. Close down Amarok completely. Even don稚 let it in the tray. Then open up any Ubuntu's terminals and run this command line: sudo apt-get install libtunepimp5-mp3Â
After installing the so called library, restart Amarok. And that should leave MusicBrainz completely functional
Nice to be a help!
