Compaq Presario CQ40 smell like burning near the RAM slot inside when turn it on or even just plug Ac adaptor. Smell's burning occurs. What I did I open the where the memory bank is. So what I figured out is on the board power section.
Thus anyone knows how.
Problem Compaq Presario CQ40 smell like burning when turn it on
The usual causes of burning plastic smells are covered air vents. While running, your laptop needs to be positioned in a correct manner so as to not obstruct the air vents for the cooler. These are generally located on one of the sides of the laptop (the bigger one) and a few smaller ones underneath.Â
The ones underneath are equally important. So putting your laptop on a pillow, mattress or any other surface that isn't completely flat would cause your laptop to overheat.
Another cause for laptop overheating might be a faulty AC adapter. If the output voltage of the AC adapter doesn't match the input voltage of your laptop, for instance a much higher output voltage will cause your laptop to overheat and eventually shut down, together with the smell of burning.
I hope I have answered your question.
Problem Compaq Presario CQ40 smell like burning when turn it on
Dear User,
The most common issue with laptops is overheating. The smell you sense could be simply the plastic getting heated.
First, check if your laptop’s air vents are blowing hot air or barely a breeze coming from them.
And if there are dust in it and if its blocking the air to come through make sure you clean it.
Make sure you clean every part of the laptop really well. And carefully. (You may have to remove back cover).
And make sure all the fans are working properly.
And make sure your battery works fine. A bad battery can also make a bad heat.
And if this doesn’t resolve your problem.
I would recommend you to check your charging adapter and if possible use another one for a few hours.
Thank you.
