Hi,
I recently bought the DVD version of Far Cry for my PC. When I reached home, I’ve installed it and everything run smoothly. After the game was installed, it requires to start an Autopatcher.
It was downloading to 100% and so, I thought it was secure to shutdown because it was at 100%, only without faded or visible "Finished" choice. After I closed it, a Windows Vista Error message shows.
I click "Ok" then it creates another window saying "Far Cry 2 Has Stopped Working." I've personally noticed that my Far Cry 2.exe is upgraded to the update patch by checking its properties. The worried thing is, there are two .exe for Far Cry 2(see the image below).
The Blue line ubisoft Far Cry2 Launcher is up to date (Version 1.2)
And the Far Cry 2 launcher with the Red line is 1.1.
I don’t understand if it has anything to do with it or not, it seems just wrong.
I've searched at huge sources to find a solution, also looking for the error code, and at last the Far Cry tech support, but all are failed to give me a solution.
I was unable to launch the game successfully even for a single try. I also unable to use my access key.
(I have tried to uninstalling and reinstalling so many times, and also tried to the patches manually.)
I’m trying to fix it for 5 hours now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I'm using Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit, Service Pack 1. Hardware isn't an issue. But I'll post it if needed. Thanks.
Problem installing “Far Cry 2”.
It seems that this game, Far Cry 2, would really not work on your system since you are using Windows Vista. This version of Windows is not supported by the game.
You can install Far Cry 2 on computers running on Windows 98, Windows Millennium, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. You should check your current version of the game if that version already supports any editions of Windows Vista.
Otherwise, you may try running the game on a virtual machine or maybe a change in operating system to any of the supported platforms mentioned above would do which surely requires more work.
That’s why no matter how you try on reinstalling it, it still seems useless. Maybe you forgot to check the technical specifications of the game before you bought its DVD from the store.
Next time you decide to buy a game disc, be sure to check its back for the system specifications of the game so you can be sure that it will work on your system and it will not be just a waste of money.
For the complete specifications of the game, you may visit Far Cry 2.
Problem installing “Far Cry 2”.
Hello Samantha,
One thing that you should always observe when working on your system is that for any program that is running, and not only Far Cry, you will need to make sure that you have closed it before you go ahead and shut down your computer.
Shutting down a computer when a process is still may cause registry entry problems to the program and also to the system.
Therefore, to resolve that issue, you will need to try the following workarounds:
-
First of all open the task manager and then go to processes, and there you will need to locate processes that are being run by Far Cry and shut end them.
-
After that restart the system.
-
If the error still persists, you will need to install CCleaner and then run it and use it to fix any registry entry issues on the computer.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Carl
