Hi,
I have a huge problem with my graphics card (Nvidia GeForce GT 220). It overheated to 80° C at rest! And when I play a game, the screen turns off.
At first I thought to dust, I cleaned from top to bottom from inside my computer. I even removed the graphics card and cleaned the air, fan, etc. But unfortunately, it continues to overheat at the same temperature!
I really need your help! Thanks.

Graphic card can heat up if you over clocked it. You should use it on normal speed.

You should check the BIOS settings of your computer. Make sure that all settings are fine. Specially revolution per minute (RPM) of fan is at normal or high. As fan is there to throw out the heat. If it is high, it would be throwing more air but also heat up very quickly. It is a major factor of overheating.

BIOS settings of latest computer have the option of shut down at extreme temperature. Go to your BIOS settings and see if your computer have that option. If it did, you have to make sure that it is enabled.

First check that there is no problem in your overall hardware. You have to check your power supply is it creating overload and thus cause of heat. You can also see that in earlier days you have not removed any component from your PC, if you do so put it back and the problem will go.
The problem of overheating is very serious problem it can also damage your motherboard so try to resolve it as early as possible. You can check how your VGA card is producing overheating. It may be a cause of some electronics parts in such situation you have to check also that your VGA card is working properly.
To check it go to START and select RUN here type "dxdiag" and press enter a new window will open go to display and perform all checks to your VGA card. It will insure that no such problem exist.
