My friend has got HP laptop and it cannot start up showing a screen with some ''F'' keys that suggest some tests. When I clicked F4 it showed ''hard disk not exist''. Also no mouse pointer was showing. How can I solve this problem?

Problem related to hard disk.

Maybe your hard disk’s connection inside the CPU got a little bit loose. Shutdown your computer, then unplug it from the power outlet to avoid any damage to the hardware. After that, open your CPU case. If the message says about a hard disk that does not exist or missing, check the cables connecting to the hard drive.

Make sure the ribbon cable of the hard drive is properly plugged in into the port. As well as the drive’s supply connector, make sure it is tightly plugged in into the port. After making sure that all connections are secured, turn on again the computer and see if the hard drive is now detected by the CMOS during start up.

If you still receive the same message, turn off the computer then turn it back on then go to the CMOS by pressing DEL or F2 at startup. Navigate to the menus and then manually detect your hard drive. You may also check if any of your USB ports has a plugged in USB flash drive. If there is, remove it then restart the system.
