I recently upgraded my pc and reinstalled windows XP. I then installed AVG free edition antivirus software and during the installation my electricity went off due to some reason. So I restarted my pc and on boot it says that AVG failed to install and pc is a little slow as if there is antivirus installed. So tried to reinstall the antivirus but it gives some long error during installation. I tried to uninstall from control panel but there is not any entry of AVG antivirus. Please help me as I have installed Avast and my pc is running very slow due to two antiviruses.

If you have trouble uninstall avast using the add remove programs from control panel, you must succeed using the aswclear.exe software. Â Download aswclear.exe, Â wich is found here:Â https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility.

Problem Uninstalling AVG free edition
What you need to do is re-run the AVG installer as if to install it again and it will ask you whether you want to remove the already installed AVG. Proceed to removing it because it wont install if you direct it to until the current one is uninstalled. The same applies to Avast. After successfully uninstalling it, only then can you install the antivirus of your choice and help your pc from being slow. You could also try removing the AVG from the Safe Mode by continuously pressing the F8 key while restarting your computer. I hope this resolves your issue. Regards.

Problem Uninstalling AVG free edition
Hello!!
Since you attempted to install the free version of AVG and did not successfully accomplish this, I would suggest that you repair by following the guideline I have provided below.
1.  Start the installation all over again.
2.  You will be given the following chooses to choose from.
Repair installing will install the software a fresh and may work fine. You can also uninstall the software then install it again. Then you will have to restart you machine for the changes to take place.
If it doesn’t work out for you, do follow the following steps.
AVG usually creates a specific folder Winnt that has a name with the “$" character at beginning and the end of that folder. This folder contains the uninstalled program which you can execute so as to remove that program did not install correctly on your computer. These folders mostly are hidden, so you need adjust your Windows Explorer so that you will be able to see hidden folders and files. To do this>Right-click Start>Click Explore>Click Options found on View menu>th Show all the files.
Uninstalling it from the control panel will be impossible since the control panel can only display installed software. Lastly I would advice you to only use one antivirus so that they may not fight for resources and eventually slow down your machine.
