I downloaded Windows 8 consumer preview ISO file from Microsoft and website burnt in on DVD. But after I boot my computer from the DVD, the installation stops at 34% (expanding windows . . . 34%) and my pc restarts it's self. I have HP desktop computer with 4GB RAM and 750GB hard disk. I couldn't see where the problem came from.
Problem with Windows 8 consumer preview

Hello Dina.
Let's go through the simpler things to troubleshoot and see if that fixes your problem:
1. Â Verify that the downloaded ISO is good. Â One way to test it is to install your Windows 8 first to a virtual machine. Â I recommend Virtualbox (https://www.virtualbox.org/) for this purpose. Â If it installs without a hitch on Virtualbox then you can be assured that the ISO is fine. Â Optionally, you can just keep the virtual machine and try out Windows 8 from there before installing it on your hard drive.
2.  Next step is to verify that you were able to make a proper burn to DVD.  With the proliferation of knock-off DVDs, it is not uncommon to get bad quality discs that seem to burn correctly but cannot be read properly afterwards.  Get DVD media from reputable stores.  Another good practice at burning to optical media is to burn at low speeds – 4x is what I usually use.
Try the above suggestions first and post back if it still doesn't work. Â We'll work out other solutions then.
