Hello I just recently uninstalled Audacity software in this laptop because I don’t think that will be a big help for me. I just wanted to free some space in my hard disk. Yesterday I turned on the laptop and I cannot even here the Windows chime. I double checked the speakers and other peripherals connected with, all were properly connected. Can you give me ways on how to resolve this problem?

Thank you very much and have a nice day!

First of all, check whether the speakers are selected as the primary sound device, the speakers are turned on and are properly connected.

  • Right click on the speaker icon in task bar
  • Click on Playback devices
  • Right click Speakers
  • Enable and set as Default
  • Click Ok >> Apply

Also see whether the computer detects the sound card in the proper way.
It can be that the mute key on your key board has been pressed by mistake. So, try pressing it to unmute the sound.
Best Regards!

If you have a problem with audio in your laptop, try connecting a headset first then play music or watch a video to see if there is really no sound. You should also check if the volume is not muted in the system tray then try moving the volume slider all the way up.

If you still can’t hear a sound, just uninstall and reinstall the sound card driver. Reinstalling the driver should fix the problem. Click “Start”, “Control Panel” then “Programs and Features”. Locate your sound card driver, right-click it and select “Uninstall”. When uninstall is complete, restart the computer then reinstall the sound card driver after booting.

For a much cleaner uninstall and to make sure the driver is completely removed, you can use Revo Uninstaller. Download the free version and install it on your computer. Once installed, start Revo then select your sound card software among the applications and click “Uninstall”. Follow the normal uninstall process. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click to restart later.

When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, exit Revo then restart the computer. After booting, install the sound card software back.
