Hello guys,

I am using the DVD slideshow GUI for the first time to create slideshows, but I am experiencing some problems.

When I try to join a slideshow using this software I keep on getting the following error message:

" Transition " ie the fade in and out , it keeps saying , " The files you are attempting to play has an extension (.avs) that does not match the file format "

The screenshot of the error is attached below:

DVD slideshow The file you are attempting to play has an extension (.avs) that does not match the file format. Playing the file may result in unexpected behavior

Windows Media Player

The file you are attempting to play has an extension (.avs) that does not
match the file format. Playing the file may result in unexpected behavior.
Do you want the Player to try to play this content?
Don’t ask me again for this extension (.avs).

                                     Yes                      No
As you can all see that the transition extensions have a .avs format, which is required for this software. Then, where am I making a mistake ? Am I missing something?

Your helpful suggestions are required in this regard.

Looking forward to your views.

Regards.

Problems while using the DVD slideshow GUI

Hello Susan,

From what the error message indicates, the file format that file has been saved is not supported and there you will need to do the following:

  • Open the file.
  • Use the SAVE AS option to save the file in a format that is supported by the DVD Slideshow GUI.
  • After that you can try creating the slideshow and see if it will work.

But if you have worked with the .avs format successfully before, I will suggest that you just try saving in an alternative format for now and see if it will work, and then later on you can convert the file back to the .avs format.

The problem may be with the application also. It may be malfunctioning temporarily, and therefore I will recommend that you just restart it and see if it will work well after that.

Regards,

Carl
