Hi,
I just bought a new MacBook Pro and would hope to keep it running in good shape. Anyone with any advice on things I can do to avoid inadvertently getting malicious software? Which browser is the best? Any recommended extensions? Free or cheap anti-virus software I can get. Programs or websites I should definitely avoid etc.
Protecting computer from malware, spyware, bloatware and slowing down
Hello Duncan H Erazo,
MacBook and other PC stuffs are often affected by virus and as a result many problems arise like, unsaddled situation, unresponsiveness, deleting of files and corrupt files. If you want to keep it in good shape you must remember some things.
-
Don't use any virus infected flash drive in your PC. First scan it and remove virus.
-
Don't use infected portable hard drives.
-
Always avoid malicious sites.
-
There are some apps like free cleaning tools for pc. Avoid those as some of them are spam.
-
Don't download malicious software.
Now if you want an antivirus with the best features which is absolutely free, go for Avast. It's the best free package you get and packed with premium features like paid antivirus software. Or you can also use Norton Removal Tool, which can be used to scan quickly and remove malicious files. And speaking of browsers for Mac, Firefox is the best. If you want to be aware of malicious sites use avast internet security option.
Hope this helps!

I myself am using a laptop and of course I would like to keep everything protected special all my files. They are very important to me. I know you have a lot of them too. Also having a protection with this will help a lot for you not to have troubles and to disturb you in the future. I will recommend Avira Anti Virus. This protects you from a lot of Viruses. Even Phishing sites.
