I need advices on how I can carry the fiber into the server room in order to supply all my servers with gigabit. The switches I am using are Cisco 3500G and 2950G with BIC ports. I’m having a difficult time to downsize the servers to 100 MB by using a standard CAT5e cable.

Query on Cisco 3500G and 2950G
Hello Henry Khan,
If you need to upgrade the speeds of your network to a gigabit and more per second, then I will advise that you use the fiber connection for the main connection points like switch to switch connection, switch to router connection and switch to server connection.
You can still maintain the cat5e cable for connecting the workstations to the switches, or connecting the switches to the patch panels, since it will be expensive if you had to obtain fiber cables for all connections. I am so sure that connection should be able to give you a gigabit per second speed on your network.
Hope this helps.
