I download a file name FILE0010.MOV. Since I know that .mov files are best played on QuickTime player I opened it using that software but I was surprised when I got an error message -2048 saying that the file cannot open because it is not a file that QT understands.
Anyone here experienced the same problem and has a solution for this one?

Quick Time error message file cannot open
Hi there,
It seems that the FILE0010.MOV you downloaded maybe either corrupted or may have a different format but saved with the extension .MOV. In either case your quicktime will not read it and hence display an error. You can try downloading the FILE0010.MOV file again and try playing again to see if it works.
Alternatively you can install K-Lite Codec Pack which is a collection of Codecs and related tools. Codecs are required to encode and/or decode (play) audio and video. With the K-Lite Codec Pack you should be able to play almost of all the movies that you download from the internet. Even if you have the file FILE0010 with a wrong extension K-Lite Codec Pack should be able to play it since it can play most formats. If K-Lite Codec Pack cant play the file is most probably corrupted. You can download K-Lite codec pack here:Â
After download and installation just play files with Windows Media Player to which the Codecs will integrate into.
Best of luck!
