Please help me solve my problem while trying to play a downloaded movie. By the way, I am using Windows 7 Professional. I receive this particular warning message saying that the document could not be opened. Further, it says that the movie I am trying to play is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands. It also says that there is the need to install additional software to open the file.

I know that there could be lacking application in my system, but I do not know what it is and how am I going to have it. When I click on TELL ME MORE in the warning message, I only get information that does not come to my understanding.

The document  “M2U00001.MPG” could not

be opened. The movie is not in a format

that QuickTime Player understands.

You may need to install additional software to open this type of file.

Tell ME More        OK

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

What's up Robinson Young, here the problem is that the movie is simply not in the format understood by the player. Even in media players like windows media player, there are additional codecs required in order to play particular files. So here you will need to  go to the internet and look for additional Quick Time codecs or video converter.

This is what you will do:

  • Download 'ffmpegX' from the internet. You may need to search for it with Google.
  • After you download the software, install it with all the tools that come with it by ensuring you are running on an administrator's account.
  • By this you will go to Start-> Control panel and select 'Add or remove programs'
  • Select to install the program and choose a disk having enough space.
  • Run the program.
  • Drop the 'M2U00001. MPG file into the ffmpegX program and select the type of file you want to convert it to on the right side.
  • Select Mp4 format.
  • Click on 'encode'.
  • Try playing the file. This should work.

Your quick time player's file has been corrupted. For this reason you are unable to play some files. To resolve this problem. Please download a newer version of quick time player.

Than you will be able to play the files without having any problem.

Thanks.
