Hi Pro Experts,

When I tried to install the QuickTime player in my system, I ended up with the following error message. I am not able to continue with the installation further. For your information I have windows 8 operating system, 64 bit and 250GB hard disk operating system. I am a good movie watcher, the VLC media player is working without any problem. How to solve this error? Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

Do a complete uninstall of iTunes and related software components

In your Start Search field, type regedit. Right-click on the Regedit entry that comes up and select "Run as administrator"

click the triangle next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Installer > UserData > S-1-5-18 > Right-click on Components and select "Permissions"

Click the Advanced button > click the "Owner" tab > check the "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects tickbox, select "Administrators" and click Apply. Then click OK on any message that comes to u.

Click "Advanced Security Settings for Components" > Click OK in the "Permissions for Components" > Quit out of Regedit.
