I just recently bought an old flash drive from a surplus shop here in our city. The problem is. Is it a 2.0 or 1.0 version?

I have read that if "Enhanced' was in those two lines inside the red lines then my USB's were 2.0, but I can't use my flash drive cause it says my USB's aren't 2.0

Recognizing USB 2.0 and USB 1.0

We certainly have a similar memory stick, and xp pro with sp2. No problems what so ever. Have you ever checked inside your device manager to find out if the enhanced usb has a yellow ! next to it, if that's so, right click Hit, select properties then the driver tab, click update driver,it will eventually locate the ms driver sp1 and 2 installs for usb 2.0. Sometimes the enhanced driver will not install if you do not remind it. Other usb 1.0 devices will continue to work fine even if the enhanced controller is not installed, but usb 2.0 devices will result in what you describe. Also make an effort to clean up your Motherboard. Physically. After you've cleaned it. Change the jumper of the USB power inside the motherboard. Release it and reconnect it. It works. Lately I have a similar problem, then when I release the jumper then change it out to a different position (from 5V to 5 VSB — i change 3 jumper based on USB power), my flash disk is recognized. Formatting or reinstalling windows will not help.
