In my Mustek scanner, I attempted to set up a driver 64-bit but it could not be installed. Message displayed “Error 1606” and cannot access network location. I am using 64-bit win7 pro.
I contacted Mustek but I was just referred to Microsoft Registry Fix. Then I’ve used the automatic fix even though I knew that my registry entries matched with theirs, but same thing happened.
I still got the Error 1606. Mustek told me it’s a Microsoft problem and they declined to help. Are there any suggestions that I could use?

To resolve that issue, you will need edit the Windows Registry, and you will need to make sure that you modify the REGISTRY settings properly because doing it incorrectly may end up causing serious problems which may prevent your computer from booting properly. Follow the procedure below:
-
On your computer, click Start.
-
And then click Run.
-
Type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
-
You will then locate the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerUser Shell Folders
-
And then delete the entries that show the path that is listed in the error message.
That should help fix the problem successfully.
