Reformatting my Windows PC through USB

Hello there,

I tried to reformat my computer but I don't have a Recovery Disk. So I tried to do it through a bootable USB which I created from my Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool. However, when I tried to install it through this USB, there is no option for UEFI Device so I was unable to install it again. Can someone please tell me what else do I need to reformat my computer through a USB?

You got the Windows 7 bootable USB disk.

So now you just need 'bootmgfw.efi', from an install of 64-bit Windows 7 – look in C:WindowsBootEFI

Now the instruction, to make USB bootable for UEFI:

  • In the 'root' access 'efimicrosoftboot' directory, and copy it to 'efiboot'
  • Copy the 'bootmgfw.efi' file to this directory
  • Test it on an existing UEFI system, it should atomically load from the USB disk

And you are now ready to make clean installation to your UEFI based device.
