I am using iPhone 4s and on iCloud I am signed with my old Apple ID. How can I change that ID? It doesn't exist anymore and I want to replace that with a new ID. Will the same problem occur with other app like iTunes and iMessage?
Replace old Apple ID with new one
Hi Garrick,
The steps to change the iCloud email id are as follows:
1) Go to 'Settings', Click 'iCloud' option
2) Click 'Delete Account' tab, Confirm by clicking the 'Delete' button
3) Navigate back to the settings window, Click iCloud
4) Add new Apple ID and password, click 'Sign in'
5) After the sign in it will verify the account, Click 'Merge' to merge the files and data
6) Click 'Storage and Backup' tab, turn the iCloud backup ON
7) Click 'Backup now' button to backup all the data to the device
Replace old Apple ID with new one
If the currently logged in Apple ID on your device is the old one and no longer exist, changing it with a new one is easy but they recommend that you factory reset your iOS device first before changing the Apple ID. This is to prevent or avoid unexpected issues with the apps and with iOS.
The first step to changing the Apple ID on your device is to log out. On your iOS device, go to “Settings”, “iTunes & App Store” then tap the “Apple ID: [email protected]” text at the top of the screen. In the Apple ID dialog, tap “Sign Out”. Next, once your device has been logged out, log in back with the new Apple ID you want to use.
If this process is quite different, it is possible that you are using a much newer version of iOS which uses iCloud to sign in your device. For newer platforms, the procedure is quite the same and the only difference is probably with the use of iCloud.
