I want to give a special shade to a paragraph. But I am unable to do that. I know it is possible to give it a border or shading to make it prominent in the entire document. But I want to do this without using a border. My wish is to just give a special shade to a selected paragraph.
How to add borders or shading in a paragraph
What do you mean by special shade? There are different ways to highlight a paragraph or a part of a paragraph from the rest of the documents. You can do that by putting a border on that part, simply select the sentence/sentences or a paragraph by highlighting them with your mouse and choose on the formatting toolbar the border button and select the type of border you want. You can also spice some color on the border by giving it some fill.
Look for the option on border fill and it will spice you a border and fill on your sentence/s. You can also just a shade on those sentences by highlighting those parts and click text highlight color button on formatting toolbar or on the home tab choose the color of your choice.

How to add borders or shading in a paragraph
Dear Jagodish,
You have asked a question regarding your document formatting or whatever you call it. You want to give a special shade or glow to a certain paragraph. MS Word provides a simple and easy option to do so. I am attaching a few screen shots which might help you to know, how it works.
Step 1: Go to your document and select the paragraph
-
Go to “highlight button” as shown in the picture and select your desired color and click (I selected yellow). You will get your text highlighted.
-
Go to text effects and select the “glow” option. In this option select the glow effect strength and select it (I selected red). Click it, and you will get your text stand out with color
Thank you
