How can I restore clean up due to CC cleaner for the registry? I recently had a cleanup that is affecting my machine, the registry may be damaged or corrupted. How can I back up the registry next time to avoid such a mess? Is it possible to store the registry settings separately from the machine?

This will depend on how you cleaned your registry using CCleaner. If you have used the CCleaner in it’s default setting then you need to use system restore point. Windows save a restore point automatically for every system after a specific time period. If you use that system point restore function your system will be restored as it was earlier when the system restore point was created. It will give you all the registry file back but if you have added any data after the system restore point is created then you will lose those data after system restore.

If you have used secure deletion option at the time of cleaning using CCleaner then you will be able to recover the deleted files. It will depend on the passes used by CCleaner. It will harder to recover the data if it uses more passes.

To backup the registry follow the below process:
1. Go to run and type regedit and then click OK.
2. Go to the file at upper left corner and click on import.
3. It will open the Import Registry File box. Choose the location where you want to save. You can save it to external hard disk as well to keep separately from the system.
