My wireless router's power light keeps on blinking. It is doing that after every 30 seconds. The power light used to be steady and green before this happened. I don't know what to do.
I called support for the router but they declined to help me saying, I need to pay. My router is quite old. I don't want to invest on it anymore, since buying a new router is much more sensible.
What I would like is a simple work around that might help fix it.

Router has a Blinking Power Light
There are 2 reasons why the power lights of your router are blinking. Its either that the router can not get past its diagnostic stage or the router is already having a hardware issue.
To resolve this issue, you will need to do these:
1. Reset the Router
2. Assign a Static IP Computer
3. Ping the Router
4. Access the Routers User Interface Setup Page
5. Upgrade the Firmware of the router.

Router has a Blinking Power Light
I think I have tried all of the solutions you have provided. I reset the router for 30 seconds, set a static IP on my computer, plugged the computer to the router and pinged the router from that same computer.
The router is a WRT54G. It has a default IP of 192.168.1.1. I assigned a 192.168.1.20 to the computer I used for the process. I got RTOs from all Ping Replies.
Does it mean the router is already bricked?

Router has a Blinking Power Light
Did you reset the router with the power light ON? Or did you unplug the router when you pressed the reset button?
Did you also press the reset button at the back using a pin?

Router has a Blinking Power Light
How about the cable that connects the router to the computer, is it a good working cable?
If it is a good cable, please also make sure that the Ethernet LED, corresponding to the PORT at the back of the router, is lit.

Router has a Blinking Power Light
The cable is good. I inserted the computer to port 3 of the router and that port LED is lit.

Router has a Blinking Power Light
I think I did not reset the router correctly.Â
I pressed the reset button after disconnecting the router from its power source. I tried the suggestion by Eloisa's and after pressing the reset button with the router's power ON, the power light stopped blinking.
The good thing about it is that, I can already ping the router. I also was able to upgrade the firmware of the router .
Thanks a lot!
