Routing hardware for MAC file opening with authentication

Hi there, it's not easy to find a hardware routing solution that would allow to leave my MAC filtering open. But I want to allow for authentication ( username and password )before it allows connection to my network? How is this possible?

Where there are may be an easy answer to your question I do not know of a routing product that will accomplish what you are looking for.

 

What you have brought up is known to be the big problems of wireless authentication and access control. You can consider putting a multi-homed PC between WAP and the internet you are using. To gain access to the internet, you must authenticate the user to the server. The only drawback to this one is that if you are not using WEP or a MAC filtering. The internal connection would still be wide open for others to beat their way on.
