My workstation running Windows XP Professional is unable to identify the server. Running Netview of the computer produced the Error 6118 but running it on the network server will show the client workstation. The Windows firewall is disabled on the computer and I tried to enable it and add the IP and localhost address of the server using TCP and UDP. Do I need to make any settings change to correct this?
Help please.

This issue might be caused if one computer within the network’s Computer Browser service is not started as there might be no master browser on any of the computers.
Another cause could be that the domain and workgroup names are not the same.
Also, this usually happens if Internet Connection firewall is enabled on a computer which is not on the same router connected within the network. Please do the steps below to open the ports: Open the Properties settings of the firewall network which is protected > Advanced > Settings > Service Tab > Click ok Add button > Type 127.0.0.1 for the IP number required. Make sure to enter the UDP ports from 135 until 139. Do the same with TCP port as the ports(internal and external should be identical).
