I've experienced online banking using my cellphone, and the site always asks to verify a certificate.  When I access the same banking site from my android device, it does not ask for a certificate.  Does that mean that online banking with the android device is not safe?

You have it. The certificate is issued for each website for authenticity. The website is trusted if it passes the certificate. At times the certificate crosses due date of renewal and by then also the error occurs.

As you get a certificate alert from your device, you must first be confident about its trust and safety.

You may confirm it by asking questions at customer support. At times due to one or the other business reasons some devices disallow some IP addresses. Hence you must make it sure whether you are using a trusted website or not.

You may use another account that does not contain valid information and check for its safety. Ask customer support and at last you get the reason for the Alert. Mostly such cases do not occur.

Mobile banking is more secure for the time than online banking on your computer. Mobile banks are rising up very fast nowadays for the secure banking system. Mobile banking is less risky than checks which can be forged and than credit card which can be stolen.

Logging on to your account is more secure than computer logging. There is no problem for virus which is very dangerous for your account. It is very difficult to infiltrate the mobile account, so mobile banking is more identical.
