Hi Experts,

While enabling built-in website security and defense of malware threat, I received a security warning in respect of Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.

AnyConnect cannot verify the VPN server: hostname.example.com

Certificate is from an untrusted source.

Connecting to this server may result in a severe security compromise!

Security Risks Explained

Most users do not connect to untrusted VPN servers unless the reason

for the error condition is known.

Always trust this VPN server and import the certificate

Hi,

It is clear from the error message that you are trying to connect to an untrusted VPN server certificate. Untrusted servers can cause your whole computer to break down; your computer can even be access by anyone. It is mandatory for a server to have a trusted certificate to ensure safety and privacy of the user. If this certificate is not available then your computer can easily be harmed. To protect your data from being access illegally follow the steps below:

1. Never visit any servers that do not have trusted certificates. Without a certificate it would be very easy to access your computer and get away with it as there would be no information of who performed this action.

2. Most of the browsers automatically block websites that do not have a certificate and display a message that it is not safe to visit the website. This is a security measure but you can still visit if you want to.

3. If you know why the server does not have a trusted certificate then you can visit the server. It is not recommended to visit such websites.
