I got a problem with my Sharepoint 2010 email, I'm still new to it so I'm still adjusting to its environment.
I wanted to trace and monitor my emails that was sent but the problem is I don't know what to configure on it. Which category I have to enable for me to trace emails sent and see notification emails in the logs?
Sharepoint 2010 email which category to use for tracing email sent
Hi Tyrone,
Since tracing emails is your problem. Have you tried to check recorded errors in the trace logs and the errors are being logged to the Windows log? If there's no error try this. First log on to the SharePoint Foundation server as an administrator then In a Command Prompt window, type the following at the command prompt: "net start SPTrace". Once you're done try to reboot you computer then try it again.

In SharePoint, go to Central Administration, then, Monitoring, click on Configure diagnostic logging, then enable Verbose for SharePoint Foundation / Alerts. You should be able to see logs when alerts are being sent. Also, you may want to try using an exchange server as it allows the monitoring of Log Files on the SMTP server.
