Sharing static IP address over a WiFi

Hello everyone! I use a static IP address and I have set up a small type of server to track my small business. As I am running business from my home, I am having two network lines providing Internet. Those are business and residential lines. I am thinking of getting rid  of the residential line because it really is useless to have to lines at the same time. I think that business line can be used for the entire house as well. But someone told me this could be dangerous. Is it really dangerous to share a WiFi network by using a static IP address? Is it safe or not? Help!

Yes it is safe but you must have to take some precautions. It will be good for you to use the business network in the residential as well. But you have to think about the security. In business there are so many secure informations which will be transferred through the network. Within your premises there may be some sort of loopholes. But if you share it with your resident then you must apply security over it so that no one can hack your business data. Also, if you use the same network for resident and business, then if someone from outside want to use your resident network for any reason you should not allow that.

But yes it is better to keep the business network and resident network separate if you are really dealing with projects which needs very good network security. Sharing static IP using WI-FI is little bit of security hole for the network, but it can be avoided with some precautions.
