Short description of what Linux is

Hello,

My boss on some online job keeps on mentioning Linux and I really don't have an idea what it is.

Could someone explain to me what Linux is?

Short description of what Linux is

Linux is one of the operating system that is used in UNIX like operating system. As same as Windows is operating system for nowadays PC, same the Linux is operating system. It controls many operations and get it done with the help of a processor. Nowadays this operating system is used in many of the devices, if you want to know more and more about the Linux and devices that contain Linux, you can go to this link.

But in simple word Linux is and operating system. Sony reader is very good example where Linux is used nowadays, some of the iPads also contain this operating system.

Linux is an operating system, like Windows or Mac OS X. Aside from being a desktop OS, Linux can also be found in some other devices – such as the Google Android Dev Phone, the Sony Reader, the HP Mini 1000 and even the Sony Bravia TV and the Yamaha Motif Keyboard. What sets Linux apart from the more popular operating systems is that it’s free to use and offers a low-cost operating system.

Linux also runs on many computer models compared to Windows as it is a cross platform operating system. It also has a significant multiple-user feature, where more than one user can log in at the same time. Because of this, it is the leading operating system on servers and other big systems.

I salute you for answering my problems about this Linux.

Now I can answer my boss what it is, and I don't have to worry anymore maybe will before by my boss.

Now I continue with my work now and answers what all his questions.
