It is a dot matrix printer which comes in a category of impact printer. It means always touch media (paper) while printing it uses a bitwise printing method because the mechanism use in printing is that its head consist of combination of pins which arrange in vertical format when DMP printer is printing the pins are struck through to the ribbon and produce an image on paper.

Hello Mahesh Sharma,

So I guess you would like to know something about the DMP printer, because I do not seem to get what your question really is about. So I will give you some brief information about the DMP printer.

It is a type of computer printer that has a print head which will run back and forth during printing or it will run in an up and down motion. The printer prints by impact, and it does that by striking a ribbon cloth soaked in ink against the paper. You can compare to its printing mechanism to how the typewriter works. The difference it has from the other printers is that the letters are drawn out of a dot-matrix.

A dot matrix printer has a print head that is running back and forth and striking against an ink ribbon so that illustrations and characters in correct shape will be printed on the paper. Carbon copies of several-page forms could also be printed because the pressure applied mechanically during the printing process whereas inkjet and laser printers cannot print any carbon copies.

Another advantage is that cost per page is the lowest and printing on continuous paper rather than individual sheet is possible until the ink is running out.

However, the disadvantages of these impact printers are that the printing process is quite noisy because typeface or pins strikes the ribbon to the paper. Also, the visual resolution is lower with limited color presentation, quality is limited and rapidness is lower than Laserjet or inkjet printers.
