The problem may be in a file named main.iscorrupt. This file was created when the Skype chats database history file got corrupted and this could be a major problem because you might lose all your chat history. You have to reset all Skype settings.
First, quit from Skype or you can use Windows Task Manager to stop any Skype.exe processing. Go to the Start Menu > Run and type %appdata% then press Enter. When the file becomes Explore, locate a file named “Skypy”. Now Rename the folder as skype_old and restart Skype.
Thank you.

In older versions of Skype for Windows, Infosec researchers have discovered a vicious and exploitable security vulnerability and they called it the “stack buffer overflow” flaw. This flaw allows miscreants to inject malicious code into Windows boxes.
According to Vulnerability Laboratory, “The issue can be exploited remotely via session or by local interaction. The problem is located in the print clipboard format & cache transmit via remote session on Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. In Skype v7.37 the vulnerability is patched.” The “CVE-2017-9948” bug involves mishandling of remote RDP clipboard content within the message box.
According to Microsoft, the bug is no longer a problem for those users who already updated to the latest version. According to Vulnerability Laboratory’s Benjamin Kunz Mejri, even if Microsoft had fixed the problem with Skype 7.37, widely used versions 7.2, 7.35, and 7.36 are still vulnerable to what he described as a “critical” security issue.
