Skype Application Installation Error 2738

When I am doing the automatic updating of the Skype, it gives me an error message.

The error message says that ‘There is an error occurred with the installation of the application.

And it may be due to the problem with the application. The code is 2738.’

The above error is happening with all installations.

Please help me to figure out the problem.

Skype Application Installation Error 2738

Hi Charmaine,

You may need to register a missing dll component on your Computer. Missing vbscript.dll component will cause Skype to not update and install the application. To register, click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Right click on the Command Prompt Option > Select ‘run as administrator’ option > Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll then press enter on the c:windowssystem32 directory. Wait until you received a message saying the dll has been registered.

You can then try to update your Skype application. If it is not working, try to download the latest version of the application and install it on your computer.

Skype Application Installation Error 2738

Dear Friend!

When your operating system’s installer (i.e. Win Installer) become unable to use the VBScript.DLL file consequently your Skype become unable to update in accordance with latest version.

I recommend the following instructions to set up the above mentioned problem; this is for Win Vista or Win 7 (both for 32-bit and 64-bit):

For setting up for Win Vista

1. START
2. ALL PROGRAMS
3. ACCESSORIES
4. Click right on the CMD [Command PROMT] and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
5. Now, write ‘cd %win%system32’ and press ENTER
6. Now, write ‘regsvr32.exe’ vbscript.dll and press ENTER
7. You will face a message about success of DLL registration.
8. Now, click OK

For Win 7 (32 or 64 bit)

1. Just replace the fifth point in above points, as follow
2. Now, write ‘cd %windir%syswow64’ and press ENTER

Now, you can easily update your Skype software as well as you can install your existing version placed on your disk.
