Hi, I use Skype for web calls. For some days I am not being able to start my Skype and getting the following error.
I have restarted my PC and still getting this error message and not being able to start Skype.
Please give me a solution to this problem.
I also use a Skype phone.
Error message: Can't open Skype. You are already signed in on this computer. Please sign out and try again.
Skype shows an error message and does not start.
Hello Goldie,
To resolve that issue you are getting when you try to access Skype, you will need to follow the procedure below:
-
First of all, you will need to quit Skype in case it running right now.
-
After that, you will need to hold the Windows key and then press R on your keyboard.
-
A box will come up. In it you will need to type %appdata%Skype, and then press Enter.
-
You will have to get rid of any files that start with temp.
-
Also get rid of shared.xml.
-
And then rename the folder with your Skype name so that you have something likemyname_old
-
After that try starting Skype and see if you can sign in.
Regards,
Carl

Hi,
First you have to kill all running files of Skype i.e. running on background.
For this Open Windows Task Manager by pressing ctrl+Alt+delete at a time.
Kill any running process of Skype.exe , close task bar (do not reboot system)
Now go to Start menu and click Run.
Type %appdata% and enter. Windows File Explorer will open up, Search a folder named "Skype", rename the folder to some other name like new_skype or old_skype.
Your call history can be reestablished as it will be in old_skype, in case.
