Help!
When I tried using Skype this morning, I got the “Skype has stopped working” error message. So I checked the windows task manager where I found two residuals. So I ended the Skype.exe and skypePM.exe files.
Confirming that all files are closed, I restarted the Skype for Windows. I was able to view all my contacts, but the recent contacts were not there. When I restarted the system, I was able to find the contacts in Recent tab but no contacts were shown being online.

Skype has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify
you if a solution is available.
Sound playback error
Skype’s recent contacts can’t be seen
When you got the error message stating that Skype has stopped working, can you further describe what operating system you are using, and if it is a 64-bit or a 32-bit? I have here solutions that you might want to try however these steps are for users that have the Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. The first thing that you could try is to clean all temporary files on your Internet browser which is under the Tool option. If that doesn’t work you may try the following steps:
-
Close Skype
-
Switch on “Show hidden files and folders”
-
Go to start
-
Type: control folders on run
-
Hit OK
-
Select “View” tab
-
Enabled “relevant entry”
-
Type %appdata%skype then click on OK
-
Delete shared.xml file
-
Restart Skype to recreate the shared.xml file
