I want to transfer a file which is about 9GB from my portable HDD 370GB 300kb/s. But when i tried to transfer something from my computer to a different location it is fine but as soon as i try and copy paste it, it says it is going to take 11 hours at 300KB/s. And just to let you know this has never happened before. And it would normally do it in about 8-11mins. How did this happened? Is it my OS? should i reformat?

It is possible that the configuration of the computer does not support this type of large hard disk drive. There is also a limit on the capacity of the data accessed by the system. The limit of the memory accessed by the system is dependent upon the CPU whether it be 64-bit or 32-bit and the motherboard. Determine if your processor or motherboard is capable of handling this kind of large hard disk drive. In case the system does not support this kind of large capacity then it is better that you get it changed to a smaller capacity drive which will be supported by your system.
I hope this will help you.

Hi,
The USB storage device you just optimize the removal or the performance right click the USB and just click the select properties, and go to hardware tab under the all disk drives you must highlight the USB drive and simply select the properties. After that just select the policies tab, and transfer speeds should be increase dramatically for the USB drives. Make sure that the drive is optimized for the performance and just need to use a safety remove hardware icon in the taskbar if you want eject the drive properly to avoid a corrupting to the data just remove your drive from the port properly.

Firstly, recover your files off the drive with data recovery software. Then you can format it get it fixed. For data recovery software,I have a professional one on my computer that can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data due to drive crash, system sabotage, virus corrupted partitions, etc. You can download it and scan your hard drive for free to preview whether your data can be recovered. Get it from https://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoveryprofessional.htm
By the way,if you can't format it as normal, format it with low level format tool like Any Drive Formatter.Â
