Software Compatibility Error on HP 6653W PC with Windows 7

Needing your advice on these annoying PC problems! I purchased a brand new HP 6653w with Windows7 and 64-bit processor. However, there’s a compatibility problem with my old software. I wanted to load my Printmaster Gold 8.0 and Gold Edition Calendar Creator Plus 32-bit. Can I just use the drivers or do I need something to make them compatible? I wanted to ask help from Softkey or Broderbund, but I don’t have their contact details. Your assistance please! Thanks.

You should try upgrading your system to Windows 7 professional for better experience and then try downloading two free updates from microsoft.com(Virtual PC and XP mode). The default memory for the XP PC is 512mb so assign much more. Then try to Create the Virtual PC and XP mode.set up the XP mode printer.Start windows in Xp mode. After that try installing the program in the pc you just installed windows xp.I don't have contact information of Softkey or Broderbund either,so I cannot assist you about that.Hope this solves you problem.

The problem here is that you are trying to load a 32 bit application on a 64 bit operating system, and there is no  way they are going to work like that. For the application to work on the operating system that you are using, you will need to do the following:

  • You will need to go to the internet and search for the 64 bit version of that application and download and install it. That one should work without any problems because it is compatible to the operating system.
  • Alternatively, you can choose to get rid of the 64 bit operating system and get a 32 bit operating system and install it, but that will be a high risk to take since you will need to get all new applications that can run on that platform.
