Hi StuartJunior,

You said that you have a problem with you Fn key on your Acer laptop, and you said it is locked. I think I can help you with that, try this key combination below:

You can try to press and hold down the Fn key of your keyboard and press F11. (Fn + F11).

OR

You can try to press and hold down the Fn key of your keyboard and press F12 or the Scroll lock key (Fn + F12).

OR

You can also try pressing Fn + F12+ F11.

Hopefully one method will work.

Goodluck.

If your Fn key is locked, you can try to do the following:

  • Press Start > Run.
  • Type "msconfig".
  • Then select the Startup tab.
  • Verify if the "Acer launch Manager" box is checked.
  • If not, please check it.

I hope this will unlock the Fn key of your Acer laptop.

In laptop, if the Fn key is locked, the normal function of the key will be overridden by the second function. If this annoys you since you can no longer use the key normally, you can disable or unlock the Fn key from the BIOS. To do this, restart your computer then press DEL, DELETE, F2, or whichever key is used to go to the BIOS.

In the BIOS, navigate to the “System Configuration” option then select “Action Keys Mode”. Hit Enter to bring up the menu then select either “Enabled” or “Disabled”. Save the new setting and exit to reboot. When you select “Disabled”, this will lock the Fn key. Selecting “Enabled” unlocks the Fn key. And that’s it.
