Is there an alternative program that will open in Microsoft Office on other computers? I only require Word and PowerPoint. Don't require Excel, Publisher e.t.c
I don't require paying like a £100 for a program, Microsoft must think I am crazy if I am going to pay that much which is way overpriced. Who do they think I am, Bill Gates? I am only a student!

Alternative Software for Microsoft Office
Howdy,
You will not have to buy the full Office Suite to use the Office applications. They are also available as stand-alone products. The latest version of Word and PowerPoint are available for online purchase from the following links:
Also, a student version of Office 2010, Office Home and Student 2010, is also available in the market at a reduced cost. The suite includes only the basic applications like Word, PowerPoint, OneNote and Excel. It is available for purchase from the following web link:

Also, a free 60-days trial version of Office 2010 is also available for download. Please visit the following weblink:
Link 2Â Try Office 365Â
If you do not want to purchase Word/PowerPoint and want to only view the contents in the file, then you can use Word/PowerPoint Viewer. It is available for free download from Microsoft:
However you will not be able to edit or create the content of the file using the Viewer.
Another third-party word processing software that is available for free download is OpenOffice.org. Please visit the following web link for more details and to download the software:
Software Apache OpenOffice The Free and Open Productivity Suite
Hope the information is helpful.

Alternative Software for Microsoft Office
There is an alternative program that will open with the Microsoft Office Suite. It is called OpenOffice. This is a free open-source program that has five products that are compatible to the products of Microsoft Office. The program includes Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, and Base. Writer is the equivalent of Word, Calc is equal to Excel, Impress is equal to Powerpoint, Draw is equal to Publisher, and Base is equal to Access.
To download this free software, please visit http://www.openoffice.org/. You can easily open any file that was created previously with MS Office without the need to retype it. OpenOffice.org product also can open other common office programs also. They also have a community of users who you can ask questions if you needed assistance.
