I am looking for advice on what driver to use on a virtual Windows Server 2008 R2 that will emulate a sound card. I found out that the VACARD09 I tried using only worked on Windows XP but not on the OS I mentioned. What I am aiming to do is to have the sound card enable me to run certain streaming software without the sound itself.
Thanks.
Sound Card Emulator for Windows Server 2008
Are you sure that you did the right configuration to setup the card that you already have? Because I didn't find any thing related to Windows Server 2008 and this virtual sound card. But there is a site that provides virtual sound cards for other purposes to solve some issues. I think that they might be helpful to you too. The link is here
But you can also give a try from inside the Virtual machine software.
go to file, install or update VM additions. This will start the installation of VM add-ons.
Once done restart the VM.
If you get the pop up message saying found new hardware you can then direct it to the directory where your VM additions folder are. There are the installed drivers.
Install Virtual Machine Additions (File > Install or Update Virtual Machine Additions). This will mount a virtual drive and run a setup program to install the VM additions.
if unluckily you don't get the pop up go to device manager and the yellow indicating icon might be there. Right click on it and select update driver. Then in the browse option point it to the directory same as above. Proceed to install them.
After that restart your VM again and you will be having a virtual sound card in your VM.
