What is the best software to record audio? I'm going to do a video narration, is windows' sound recorder ok?

If you just want a simple sound or audio recorder that does not require high audio or sound quality, you may as well try Microsoft Sound Recorder. You can also try Audio Recorder from http://www.freeaudiorecorder.net/free_audio_recorder.html.

It is a free audio and voice recorder that can capture different sound input and have the output in MP3, OGG, or WAV formats. This application works with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

You can also try Audacity 2.0 which is available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/. This is a free open source, cross-platform application for editing and recording sounds.

This version is compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X, and GNU/Linux operating systems.
