Hello! I want to know that is there any chance to change the opacity of the taskbar because I found it somewhat weird and distracting. I read some articles, but they are for Windows7, but I’m using windows 8. If changing the opacity of the taskbar is possible, then provide the steps for how to make taskbar transparent Windows 8.

Sometimes, it is very distracting that in windows8, the taskbar is very different from another windows version. Due to its transparency, sometimes it’s very difficult to check the time and other things. However, you can change the transparency or color of the taskbar easily. You can try these steps to do so-

  • Right-click on the windows icon present on the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Click on ‘Desktop.’
  • Right-click on the ‘Desktop.’
  • Select ‘Personalize.’
  • Click on the ‘Color’ option.
  • You can choose the colors present in the option or can remove the color to make it transparent.

In Windows 8 and later operating systems, Microsoft removed the aero glass transparency and there is currently no known method to restore it back. Though the aero glass transparency was removed, they didn’t remove it from the taskbar. The taskbar is still transparent in Windows 8 and higher but there are people who don’t like this behavior because it makes the entire user interface inconsistent.

You don’t need to do anything in Windows 8 because the taskbar is already transparent just like in Windows 7. On the other hand, if you want to disable or turn off aero glass transparency in the Windows 8 taskbar, first, you need to download the latest Classic Shell and install. Once installed, right-click the “Start” button and select “Settings.”

Go to “Start Button” tab and check “Disable taskbar transparency.” If you can’t find this option, check “Show all settings.” When you are finished, click “OK.” If you want to restore transparency, just uncheck “Disable taskbar transparency.”
