Strangers started following me in Flickr and Instagram

I have Instagram but I don't use it all. I've only uploaded 2 photos since I created the account, which was 2 years ago. All of a sudden, I had followers, all strangers and they were liking my old photos. It was really odd. Then I started getting flickr notifications, strangers favorited some random photos of mine. It's very unsettling when a stranger favorites a photo of your dog, isn't it? What is happening?

You can easily avoid this kind if a situation.

First option would be to block these users who have been posting comments and liking your photos. However, it wouldn't solve the problem entirely as some new stranger could end up doing the same things too.

Therefore, you can go to your account settings and change who views your profile (change them to private) for both Flickr and Instagram. Also, you can check a clause from there that requires your verification, in case your photos are liked or comments are made on them.
