Hello Bob,
When you install an .msi, the Windows Installer on your system caches the .msi on the destination computer and after that gets rid of the.cab files that are part of the .msi.
This results into for offline users when a repair requiring the source files occurs. To overcome this issue, you will need to create a single-file .exe that that has got the .msi.
In the event that the .exe executes on the destination computer, the .exe will extract the embedded .msi to C:Program FilesCommon FilesWise Installation Wizard. The .exe then runs the .msi from the directory mentioned.
Once that is done, a repair can be able to complete successfully since this directory has got the entire .msi including the source files embedded in .cab files.
Hope this will help you resolve the issue you are having during the update if Symantec antivirus.
Regards,
Carl
