Systems gets held while using Skype
If your computer keeps freezing every now and then when running programs, you need to check your computer for errors. First, try using the System File Checker utility. Press the Windows key then type without quotes “cmd” in the search field. Right-click “cmd.exe” in the search results then select “Run as administrator” to launch an elevated command prompt.
In the command prompt window, type the following command then hit Enter:
sfc /scannow
Insert your Windows installation CD or DVD when you are prompted then continue. Wait until the process is complete. When it is finished, close the command prompt then restart the computer. If this doesn’t work, try downloading PC Tools Performance Toolkit and install. Once installed, start PC Tools then go to “Recovery” tab and click “Repair Drives.”
On the next screen, select the drive you want to check. From the options, select “Surface Scan” and check “Perform on reboot.” Click “Start” then “Continue.” Exit PC Tools then restart the computer to begin the check. The checking will be quite long depending on the size of the drive and the extent of the problem.
If bad sectors were found, try repeating the scan a second time. Bad sectors are normal for hard drives and usually appear as the drive gets older. If bad sectors appear everywhere on the drive and the drive is quite old, it means you need to replace the drive with a new one. You can also check the partition structure of your drive for errors.
In “Repair Drives,” select “Check Partition Structure” in the options then click “Start.” This will check all the partitions on the drive for errors. If you need to partition your drive, you can use EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition. If the problem is with Skype, uninstall the current version then download the latest. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install.
Once installed, start Revo then select Skype among the applications and click “Uninstall.” Follow the normal uninstall process. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click to restart later. When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and click to delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer.
When it is finished, exit Revo then restart the computer. After booting, download the latest Skype for Desktop. The latest version at the moment supports Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. It requires 1 GHz or faster processor, 512 MB RAM, and Microsoft DirectX 9 or higher. It also works on Macintosh and Linux as well as on mobile phones.
For iOS devices, download Skype for iPhone. The latest version at the moment requires iOS 10 or higher and works on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. For Android devices, download Skype for Android.
